Cultural Life

Würselen is living multi-faceted culture. Its location in the cross-border triangle of Germany - Belgium - Netherlands strongly influences the cultiral life benefits

Würselen has a long history as a city close to roman located near the politcal power centre

During the time of the German "economic miracle" many guest workers came from different countries to work in the local coal mines. Many of them settled down in Würselen and enrich cultural diversity.

Today, Würselen has overcome the challenges of the pit closures  in the 1980-ties

A vibrant city needs cultural life. Wuerselen is much culture at home, people of all ages are themselves culturally active and / or participate in the cultural life of the city.

The Cultural Foundation Wuerselen gets involved in this cultural life and wants to enrich it. We want to strengthen the cultural diversity, improve the cultural education of children and young people and facilitate access to cultural activities and cultural events for all ages. This is only possible with the people in our city, the citizens of Wuerselen.

The work of the Cultural Foundation is first carried by about 30 people from the city, the volunteers in the various Foundation committees. In addition, soon hopefully many funding and sponsors who help us to secure the financial basis for the work and to make known the foundation on. We invite each and every one, personally, as a family, as an association or institution, as operating, entrepreneurs and also as benefactors.

What is the mission, the Foundation?

They will encourage cultural events and projects in Wuerselen and support.

You will in cooperation with kindergartens and schools projects for cultural education on the way.

You can support cultural driving clubs Wuerselen, z. B. through cooperation, the development of a network and targeted public relations.

It will encourage and enhance cultural diversity. It will help in the further development and uses of Würselener Culture archive.

And she will advise and support the city in its cultural tasks.

This brings us to the "users" of the Foundation. Gradually, projects and events of the Foundation itself or by those who are promoted, the people of Wuerselen offer the possibility of living culture. Join. We are committed to openness and curiosity, their joy and enthusiasm. From the child started to old age, we want to access and encourage participation. Culture opens the senses, culture helps integration, culture promotes the formation and the emotional and social skills.

Culture is life!

Challenge

A long time ago - more than ten years or so - I appealed to the authorities of Würselen to setup an English ( Dutch and French) Web site of my home town, just to highlight the international meaning of a small vital city in in border triangle of Belgium, The Netherlands and Germany.

If you surf a bittle bit on this little web site you find the reasons why: Würselen provides an attraction to anyone who visits or want to settle down in this border triangle with Aachen as its centre to benefit from its international flair: (CHIO, RWTH Achen, Karlspreis, Karneval ...)

However, the authorities  did not want to accept the challenge stating that an English web site is somehow to big for little Würselen.

This decision gave the reason for this site.

Correctness

This is not an official site, not bound to political correctness or to any correctness even with respect to the English language. It is not at all a fair view on my home town. It is just my view, realized during a sunny weekend with a digital camara in my hand and some ideas in my head and some time left.

If you want to correct me, I would really appreciate any help about English wording and even content. Please don't hesitate to drop me a line.

www.Wurselen.de

Since August 2014, this site is hosted within our private homepage, www.wurselen.de links to this 'green' part. This is to make it a little more easier to maintain the content. Using the footer menu on this page you have access to all of our site which is for sure in German. It is not on Würselen at all. If you are interested in more information on Würselen, try the manifold of German web sites: The official site www.wuerselen.de or www.kulturarchiv-wuerselen.de may be good start.
